ABOUT US
The Mindful Story
Michael and Deborah began to create a space together where not only they could work but a space which started to attract like-minded psychologists and professionals with similar values and ideas. This space became the home of Mindful, Johannesburg.
It was not long before Mindful in Cape Town was established, headed by Tracy Kruger.
Her enthusiasm and drive, merged with the mindful vision, takes us one step further towards creating a collaborative space characterized by learning,
creativity and personal development.

Mindful continues to evolve into a collaborative professional space where clients find a space to explore their difficulties, hardships, journey’s and personal growth in a calm and welcoming setting with a therapist they feel comfortable working with.

We have had the privilege of having some amazing professionals join our team. We value the unique input and the energy each team member and client brings into the Mindful space. We hope that Mindful will grow to be a unique, comfortable and trusted environment for all who enter here.

A BIT MORE ABOUT US
Innerscapes and being mindful from a psychoanalytic perspective.

In a world shaken by physical, political, and medical disasters, developing a psychoanalytic mind offers a deeper understanding of the ground beneath our feet to better serve ourselves and the world we live in. A successful psychoanalysis or psychotherapy involves a shift in the patient's relationship with their own mind.
How we develop a way of thinking about the way we think and how we work things out for ourselves becomes central
to how we can go about beginning to heal.
With this comes the capacity
to shift the inevitability of action to the possibility of action.
So your mind is defined through your relationship with your own thoughts and your body.
But there is a difference between state knowledge and process knowledge.

In state knowledge, we learn what we did not know, what was previously unconscious.
That which was repressed becomes accessible, leading to more complex psychic structures and less propensity towards action, and more space for reflection. Process knowledge is different, it leads to a difference in how one thinks rather than what one thinks.
Attainment of process knowledge is at the heart of what it means to create a mind, a mind of one’s own.
This form of mindfulness
or what we call a psychoanalytic mind opens up a space where we can not only access and hold the complexity of these thoughts and feelings
(and disparate self-states)
but also, and perhaps more importantly understand their interplay.

The psychoanalyst and psychotherapist's crucial role
of the in helping the patient find their own mind, rather than just being an expert in its content is central to what it means
to be on your own analytic journey.
